F.A.Q.
1. Question- Is the prayer map a “target map”?
Answer- Not necessarily. While we use the map for targeting prayers and sometimes use it as a guide for street witnessing, we witness at places not on the map as well. We are interested in seeing some types of businesses shuttered so as to improve our city (like sexually oriented businesses) but not everything on the map falls into that category. If it is on the map then there is a spiritual concern that we believe warrants prayer for the people involved in the activity or prayer against the demonic influences involved with that place. We pray for the salvation of people and we pray against the demonic. We ask all Christians who see our map to pray in this manner as well.
2. Question- Are we a “hate group”?
Answer- No, we are not. The Bible says that Jesus hates sin (Hebrews 1:9) so we hate sin just as Jesus does. It is the goal of every Christian to be more like Christ so we must hate sin as Jesus does for the very same reason He does, because sin kills the people that Jesus loves. And we love people as Jesus does. Remember, the Bible does not teach love and hate as emotions, but choices. Jesus said to, “Love your enemies”. That cannot be done by mere emotion but only by a righteous choice born out of the influence of the Holy Spirit. Hate is also a choice, not an emotion. We choose to love people and hate sin by the choices we make rather than by our feelings. We bring our emotions in line with our choices rather than bringing our choices in line with our emotions. That is scriptural.
3. Question- Does Repent Amarillo believe in violence?
Answer- Absolutely not! Violence goes directly against the teachings of Christ. Anyone who commits violence in the name of Christ is not a Christian, they are a hypocrite and blaspheme the holy name of our Lord. They are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Do not allow yourself to be fooled by the disguise. Real Christians are not violent.
4. Question- Do we tell people they are going to hell?
Answer- No, we do not. We do warn people about hell. We tell them that if they do not repent of their sins and serve Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior they could end up in hell. We are not God and we cannot know anyone’s future except by God’s word. God’s word says those who do not accept His mercy through His Son Jesus Christ will end up in hell (John 3:18, John 3:36). We are ambassadors for Christ (2 Cor. 5:20) so we are authorized to repeat anything in God’s word as absolute inerrant truth. That includes hell. Jesus preached more about hell than heaven and there is no better example than Him.
5. Question- Do we judge people?
Answer- No, we do not. We discern between right and wrong based on judgments God has already made in His word.
